The Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit is investigating the homicide of an infant on the Stoney Nakoda Nation on Aug. 25.

An autopsy conducted on Aug. 26 at the office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary determined the manner of death to be a homicide.

The Stoney Nakoda RCMP responded to a residence on Aug. 25 at about 6:30 p.m. for a welfare check on a 6-month-old infant. 

RCMP made entry to the house and located the infant deceased.
