Four goals and an assist over the weekend have lifted Generals captain Tristan Ripplinger to the top of the goal-scoring race in the HJHL.

The sniper has 20 goals in 13 games after scoring one on Nov. 3 against the Mountainview Colts and a hattrick against the Stampeders in Ponoka.

The Gens are now on a four-game winning streak after defeating the Mountainview Colt 7-2 at home on Friday and destroying the struggling Ponoka Stampeders 12-0 on the road the next day.

Diago Coelho had a six-point weekend and is sixth in HJHL scoring, with nine goals and 15 assists. With five points on the weekend, Rookie Evan Sine is the third-highest in points for the Gens and 24th in the league.

Aussie Daniel O'Handley had a breakout game against the Stampeders, scoring his first goal as a Gen and assisting on three others.

Cochrane goalie Benjamin Polhill got his first start with the Gens, turning away 24 of 26 shots by the Colts for a 0.923 save percentage.

The Gens have only one game on the schedule this weekend. They roll into Airdrie to face the Techmation Thunder on Nov. 10. The Thunder are off to a slow start, with just three wins in 14 starts.

Other junior action

The Cochrane Chaos are no longer undefeated after losing in overtime against the Foothills Storm, 5-4. The Chaos are on a bye this weekend.

In Jr. C action, the Generals tied the Bow River Bruins, 4-4, and lost to the Trails West T-Dubs, 5-1.

This Friday (Nov. 10), they host the Chestermere Lakers. Game time is 8:45 p.m. in Totem 3.
