On, January 21, Cochrane RCMP responded to a call of robbery on Highway 1 near Highway 68.

RCMP say a lone female was driving east on Highway 1 when she saw a group of four females on the side of the road, with their car hood raised, waving for help.

Cochrane RCMP, Sergeant Darleen White, says when the woman stopped something extremely uncommon proceeded.

"When she got out of her vehicle one of the four females assaulted her and then they all jumped in her vehicle and drove away."

Sgt. White says the vehicle was located a short time later on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation.

Although the RCMP attempted to stop the vehicle, the driver kept going; once the vehicle stopped all four occupants fled into the woods in another area on the Nation.

"With the assistance of our RCMP Police Dog Service and the Calgary Police Service HAWCS Helicopter we located two of the four suspects. These two were subsequently charged with robbery and possession of property obtained by crime."

25 year old Karine Beaver and 27 year old Michelle Twoyoungmen, both from Stoney Nakoda First Nation were charged; RCMP are still looking to locate the other two women involved.

Sgt.White says they do not want to discourage people being Good Samaritans, but says please use caution.

"You have to be wary of your surroundings if you are not sure just don't stop, call 911 and we will check it out for you."

At this point Sgt.White says RCMP are unsure whether or not the suspects were after the car, whether they indeed did break down, or what the motive was exactly. The broken down vehicle was discovered to be a stolen car from Calgary.
