Seven-time Juno winner Serena Ryder is headlining the Canmore Folk Festival, Aug. 5 to 7.

She is just one of over 30 performers at Alberta's longest-running folk music festival, which features artists from across North America.

Ryder is touring her compelling latest album, The Art of Falling Apart, which invites listeners to join her mental wellness journey through a driving pop sound and the full range of her powerful voice. It's her eighth studio album.

Other performers of note include multiple-award-winning and Grammy-nominated artist Allison Russell, The McDades, who fused Celtic music with jazz improvisation and global rhythms, and Canadian roots and blues singer-songwriter Suzie Vinick.

Juno-nominated Irish Mythen will be making her first appearance at the folk festival, as well as folk legend Richard Thompson, who first gained prominence with Fairport Convention.

You can expect some laughs when The Arrogant Worms hit the stage to make fun of our big dumb world.

Among the rising stars to catch is Brianna Lizotte, a Metis fiddler who grew up in Sylvan Lake steeped in the traditional music of her ancestors. A talented traditional fiddle player, Brianna’s musicianship and demeanor have led to some amazing opportunities including an emotional performance for the Pope in Rome and feature spots at the Edmonton Folk Music Festival in 2022.

Canmore area performers include The Cave Arcade, Irene Poole, The Osaac Brothers, Mike Tod, Mister Bird, the Nico Tobia Band, Phillip Alexander Nugent, Rick Simon, TrebleMakers, and Zebra.

Weekend passes are now available here and day passes go on sale on May. 1.

The Canmore Folk Festival was established in 1978 and has drawn up to 21,000 fans to Canmore for the August Long Weekend.
