There were 1,339 new cases of COVID-19 reported for Thursday, September 2.

Hospitalizations rose by 22 for a total of 487 while ICU admissions increased by seven for a total of 114.

Of the 487 in hospital, 385 or 79.06 per cent are not immunized, 16 are partially vaccinated, and 86 are fully immunized.

Five more deaths have also been reported for a total of 2,388.

There are now 12,868 active cases in the province with a positivity rate of over 10 per cent.

Cochrane now has 53 active COVID-19 cases while Rocky View County has 114 cases.

Alberta marked a milestone with 70 per cent of the population now fully immunized.

While 78.2 per cent of the provincial population now has one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Experts say that over 85 per cent of the population needs to be immunized to achieve herd immunity.

Rocky View Schools announced today that it will be working with AHS to set up temporary immunization clinics in schools to provide easy access for students to be vaccinated. Students in grades seven to twelve who were born in 2009 or before will be eligible with parental consent.
