The multi-generational determination of the Harvie family has given us the truly unique Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park that's now visited by thousands of people each week.

On Sunday, Aug. 8 and Monday, Aug. 9, Alberta Parks and the vibrant Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation will be celebrating 10 years of welcoming visitors.

Free golf cart tours and guided walks are being offered with limited capacity that need to be booked online in advance.

The hour-long golf cart tours are being held at 10 a.m. on both days. You'll learn about the park's history and ecology from long-time volunteer and tour guide Jim.

Monday at 2 p.m., there's a "People of Glenbow History" golf cart tour. It will provide a peek into the lives of those who worked and lived at Glenbow Quarry from 1906-1913. With stops at Glenbow townsite and the Workers’ Quarters, archaeologist and author Shari Peyerl will regale participants with stories of notable residents, including The Spook, the female quarry employee, and the local embezzler.

A guided history walk on Sunday that's about 8 km long is being led by long-time steward Alice. It's not recommended for children under 12.

Monday, Vegetation Management Lead Blake will identify and explain the wildflower and grass species on a two-hour wildflower walk that starts at 9:30 a.m.

There will also be interactive displays at the entrance of the park, and Alberta Parks will have a team of interpreters there on Sunday.

Plus, there are giveaways for children participating in a family scavenger hunt.
