Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is holding The Howling Halloween Thriller event this year and is opening the sanctuary for a special look at wolfdogs after dark.

This 18+, one-night-only event is happening the night before Halloween, Saturday, October 30, 2021.

Jessica Hynes, Fundraising & Event Manager for the Sanctuary says they have a lot planned for everyone attending. “We're going to greet everyone in our visitor centre and be dressed up for Halloween. Everyone who comes to the event is going to receive a free bag of treats for the goats who are very excited about getting treats”

“Every participant is going to be able to enjoy the things like venturing into the grounds after dark, and it'll be very fantastic to explore the things after dark and really immerse yourself into the world of wolfdogs and Halloween.”

She says there is something special when it comes to hanging out with wolfdogs after dark.

“It takes away a few senses, like sight so you're going to have more of the sounds of the wolfdogs and howling. You’ll be able to see them more in their natural element which is known to be a little bit more at dusk and dawn.”

“We've never done this before so it's gonna be really really fun, being able to really immerse yourself with the wolfdogs and it's almost like you're more in their environment, in their world, and it's very private.”

Of course, it is Halloween, which means everyone is encouraged to come in their best costumes.

“We’re having costume contests as well so we're gonna have three categories, like the scariest costume, creative, and the best couple costume. They'll win introduction tour day passes to do for another day.”

Wolfdog pumpkin carving and the behind the scene tours for Halloween have already sold out and about 50 tickets remain for the Spectacular Sanctuary Adventure. Tickets can be found here.
