If you are looking for more rodeo action, you will want to take in Cochrane Classic Bull Riding this Saturday night (August 18).

For 18 years, the meanest, rankest bulls have put the world's top bull riders to the test as they vie for big money.

Jason Borton, Organizer of the Cochrane Classic, shares the event draws in the best of the best. "It's the biggest bull riding in the BRC, Bull Riders of Canada; there's ten thousand dollars, a trophy buckle and great bulls to get on."

The event not only draws in the best professional bull riders but attracts attendees from all over the province and beyond. "I guess over the years everyone knows it's going to be a great time so I just try to keep up the standards that everyone wants."

Last year, Borton took a leap of faith and moved the event from in town up to the Cochrane AG Grounds which proved to be a great success. "It's been great working with the AG Society, we both feed off of each other; it brings people into their fair and people come to my bull riding, it's a great fit."

The 2018 rendition will certainly not disappoint as top riders compete to come out on top. With a big cash prize at stake, Borton shares who he would place his money on this year. "I am going to go with Cody Coverchuk, he's just been riding everything and he's probably won three or four events this year already. It's going to be a fun night watching those guys since it's the top guys coming out."

If you have never been to the bulls before, Borton shares you are in for a real treat. Unlike the Calgary Stampede or other large-scale rodeos, the best part is how close you get to the action. "There is not a bad seat in the place; so you get to see crazy, extreme action up close."

Event goers will watch all 30 competitors get in the ring before the top six scores are brought back to compete in the short round as they try to claim first place.

The one thing Borton made clear, was that an event like this is just not possible without incredible sponsors.  "Cochrane Dodge is our title sponsor and I can't do it without the guys up there."

The bull riding arena entrance gates open at 6 pm with riders mounting the bulls at 7 pm. A dance will follow the event at 9:30 pm with the Bow River Band to headline.

Tickets are available HERE, The Venue, Dry Cleaning by Dave, Tony's Western Wear or at the gate.
