CochraneNow loves to support local artists!

Nicole Byrne just put the finishing touches on her first song ‘Don’t’ and made a stop at CochraneNow’s studio to perform it live.

“My music definitely has a pop sound to it but a bit of an edge as well. The kind of sound that I wanted was Josie and the Pussycats. Definitely that but with an edge of humor mixed into it.”

Byrne recently participated in the Write, Record, Release program right here in Cochrane. She was one of five artists to write, record, and perform a brand new song in just a matter of weeks.

“This was actually the first song I've ever written.”

“I've always loved music, but I was I had really bad stage fright. I was terrified of singing in front of people. So that's what led me to want to practice more and get more confident with it.”

She has now performed the song live to a packed house at the Write, Record, Release wrap party.

With her song now released, Byrne has no thoughts of slowing down.

“I would ultimately love to work on an EP of some kind and do a lot more writing. I just want to get better as a songwriter right now.”

“I want to explore what else I can do to push myself further”
