The town has now closed Heritage Gate after the storm pond exceeded its capacity and water started to overflow on to the street.

People in Heritage Hills are being directed to the Horse Creek Rd to access Heritage Hills until further notice.

Gravel is being laid around the perimeter of the Cochrane Historical Museum.In the meantime, town crews remain on site to address overland flooding occurring in town in both Sunset Ridge and Glenbow Drive as a result of the heavy overnight rain.

Motorists are asked to avoid travel through these areas.

Crews continue to monitor the situation in town and are taking action where required.

The entrance to the Cochrane Ranche historic site is deep in water and closed. Water has started to build at the Cochrane Historical Museum and gravel is being laid around its perimeter to protect its foundation and basement. 

The town advises if you are in an area where there is standing water in the roadway, please use caution when driving and consider staying home. Puddles may be deeper than they look and can cause vehicles to stall.

Further heavy rainfall is not anticipated. Rivers and creeks in the area appear to be additional flow at this point. Flow rates are being monitored closely.

The Cochrane Ranche has been closed; crews are placing barricades in other parks and around waterways for public safety.

Sunset Ridge

The runoff is coming from the undeveloped area at the north end of Sunset. Plans are underway to put a portable dam in place to stop the flow of water. In the meantime, if you’re in an area where there is standing water in the roadway, please use caution when driving and consider staying home. Swales

If you have a swale (drainage infrastructure) in your backyard, please ensure it is free of debris so water can flow away from your property.
