The Cochrane RCMP continue to investigate a tragic sudden death near Bragg Creek that occurred on Dec. 6 and are reaching out to the public for any help they can provide.

Police have identified the victim as a 40-year-old woman from Calgary.  A thorough investigation is currently ongoing to determine the female’s whereabouts prior to arriving at a rural property.

Cochrane RCMP is requesting the public’s assistance in gathering dashcam footage and any information pertaining to the sighting of a female walking on Twp. Rd. 232 between Range Road 54 and Braken Road, near Bragg Creek, on Sunday, Dec. 6 between the hours of midnight and 3 p.m.

"It is a very strange incident and we are continuing to speak with people who dealt with her prior to her leaving from where her vehicle was located," says RCMP Corporal Troy Savinkoff.

"As a result of our investigation up to this point, we do believe that at some point she was walking along Township Rd. 232 to where she finally ended up, near the Hamlet of Bragg Creek."

Yesterday, Cochrane Search and Rescue volunteers were recruited to help retrace the woman's steps, looking for additional evidence and personal effects.

"Additionally, we're asking the public, who may have driven on that road between that midnight to 3 p.m. time frame, that if they have some dashcam footage, we'd like to see it, especially if it shows anybody walking adjacent to the road."

The cause of death is being determined by the medical examiner.
