A peaceful Black Lives Matter and Anti-racism march and rally has just wrapped up in the Cochrane Historic Downtown.

The crowd of several hundred grew as the rally progressed. People stood in solidarity against racism and discrimination on June 14.

It is part of a growing worldwide movement that was sparked by the death of George Floyd when police attempted to arrest him in Minneapolis, Minnesota on May 25.

Armed with placards, participants overflowed the Centennial Plaza and responded to speakers from Cochrane, Stoney Nakoda, and the greater area with cheers and chants.

A long list of people killed needlessly, some as recent as 48 hours ago, were humanized and remembered with a brief account, followed by the crowd repeating their names.

The crowd initially met at the community cenotaph park before marching along 1st. St. W. to the plaza.
