Filming of My Life with the Walter Boys Season 2 is schedule to begin later this month with some scenes expected to once again be shot in Cochrane.

Netflix has announced production is expected to start on July 22 and wrap up Nov. 15 with its release expected in the spring or summer of 2025. Alberta locations confirmed by Netflix include Cochrane and area, Crossfield, and Calgary. The first season also included scenes in Kananaskis Country.

In Cochrane, scenes were shot in the Glenbow neighbourhood, the Historic Downtown and theatre of the Cochrane RancheHouse in the spring of 2022.

Netflix hosted a special screening at Calgary's Eau Claire Cinemas one day before the series debuted. Cast members Nikki Rodriguez (Jackie Howard), Ashby Gentry (Alex Walter) Noah LaLonde (Cole Walter) and Marc Blucas (George) were in attendance, joined by executive producer Ed Glauser and producer Chad Oakes.

Season 2 has been in pre-production since late May and was initially meant to start production in early June before being pushed back.

My Life with the Walter Boys Season One was released on Dec. 7, 2023 and received  44.3 million views globally in first eight weeks. In week one it hit #2 on Netflix with 7.5 million views.

The second season received the greenlight less than two weeks after its release.

The series is based on the Wattpad novel from Ali Novak, published in 2014. Melanie Halsall developed the novel into a 10-part series with Sony Pictures Television behind the title.

The story revolves around Rodriguez’s character, Jackie Howard, a 15-year-old who moves to Silver Falls in Colorado after losing her family in a tragic car accident. She has to adjust to living alongside a family with seven sons in rural America.

Season One ended with Jackie returning to New York on a flight with her uncle Richard (Alex Quijano) and Danny Walter (Connor Stanhope) with plenty of loose ends and at least one love triangle and hints of possibly more to untangle. 

Author Ali Novak confirmed she is working on a sequel to the bestselling book with the working title "My Return to the Walter Boys" that is expected to hit the bookshelves on Apr. 15, 2025. In an interview in April, she said none of the new material will make its way into the second season. Instead, she anticipates it will be somewhat based around content from the original book that wasn't included in Season One.
