A little rain could not dampen the kick-off to Pride Week in Cochrane.

Cochrane's third annual Pride week is off to a great start after a flag-raising ceremony of the Progress Pride flag at the Cochrane RancheHouse on Sunday afternoon.

Rainbow-clad Cochranites gathered to show support and stand together with Cochrane's LGBTQ2S+ community.

Cochrane's Deputy Mayor, Tara McFadden joined with BGC of Cochrane and Area as one of the speakers at the ceremony. She says Pride week is all about coming together as a community. "It's great that we're at the third annual raising of the flag, which itself continues to evolve, and to see the community out here today and a week full of moments."

"I think it's a great step forward for Cochrane and it's just great that we're continuing to build a community of diversity and acceptance."

McFadden continues "One of the things you see at the RancheHouse is the Man Of Vision statue, which is a story of people that saw a vision of making the world a better place. That's what I feel Pride week is about too, is we're having a vision about how we can make the world a better place through diversity and acceptance."

Cochrane's third annual Pride week promises to be full of various family-friendly events offered by numerous groups and businesses around town. Check out the video below to see more on the flag-raising event.
