A week-long bottle collection kicked off yesterday to help raise money for the Royal Canadian Legion in advance of Remembrance Day.

Those wanting to contribute bottles can load them into a 35 ft. trailer parked behind the Cochrane Bottle Depot, 205 Railway St. E. between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. until Sunday, Oct. 31. Bottles dropped off outside of these hours can be placed by the trailer.

Organizer Paul Singh says people can also make contact through a Facebook events page to arrange for bottle pickup.

"It's about supporting our Legion and our veterans, who have done show much for our country.," says Singh.

He says the drive might be extended a few days, depending upon the response.

Singh helped organize a similar bottle drive for the Legion last fall and there was a tremendous outpouring of support.

This year, the bottle depot has made the trailer available for bottle drop-off, something Singh appreciates.

People requiring bottle pickup can leave a message here.
