Cochrane residents will have an extra reason to snuggle up with their valentine today, as we are currently on day seven of an Extreme Cold Warning issues by Environment Canada. 
Extremely cold wind chill values are below minus 40 degrees this morning.

Extreme my cold air continues to hover over Alberta however, this prolonged cold snap is expected to end by Monday.

Residents are reminded to cover up as frost bite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill.

Residents are also urged to remain on the look out for shortness of breath, chest pain, muscle pain and weakness, numbness and colour change in fingers and toes.

The Extreme Cold Warning is in effect for the following areas: 

  • Rocky View Co. near Cochrane
  • Mountain View Co. near Carstairs and Stirlingville
  • Mountain View Co. near Cremona and Water Valley
  • Mountain View Co. near Olds and Didsbury
  • Mountain View Co. near Sundre
  • Rocky View Co. near Airdrie and Crossfield
  • Rocky View Co. near Bottrel and Madden
