An Alberta Infrastructure official confirmed plans continue to unfold for the major expansion of the Bow Valley High School approved in March 2022.

Alberta Infrastructure press secretary Benji Smith says it's currently in the design stage.

"The design stage is estimated to be complete by early 2024, followed by tendering and construction contract award," he says in a written statement.

The estimated total project cost is $55 million and is expected to create 308 jobs, says Smith.

At the time of the announcement by Education minister Adrianna LaGrange, it was said the school will accommodate over 1,200 students once the expansion is completed. It would consist of a gym, learning commons, career and technology studies space, auxiliary space, and additional classrooms.

It was Rocky View Schools' number one priority for new schools at the time of its approval.
