#59 is alive.

After the cuts announced this morning, Cochrane’s Dillon Dube remains on the preseason lineup for the Calgary Flames.

The 20-year-old forward continues to impress in preseason action and has scored four goals and two assists in five games, including a hat trick in his opening game against the Edmonton Oilers while the team’s veteran forwards were in China.

Now the Flames are down to 17 forwards, 13 defencemen and three goaltenders in camp.

The Flames have two pre-season games remaining on the road against the San Jose Sharks and Edmonton Oilers. The team’s regular season opens in Vancouver next Wednesday.

Flames head coach Bill Peters says he wants to be close to his NHL lineup by Saturday night.

Dube is currently among the top five points leaders in the NHL preseason, but he isn’t allowing himself to get too high or too low as preseason play progresses.

“There’s going to be hype around everybody here if you have a good game so I’ve got to keep that even keel and all I worry about is how I play. That’s all that matters right now and I’m trying to build every single game.”
