If you are an avid user of the river off leash area, you may want to take note.

Gerry Murphy, Manager of Parks and Open Spaces says the lower trail closest to the river is closed off for users. The off leash area is still open, with a small part closed off. The changing weather and ice problems downstream on the Bow River are creating issues for the park.

"We ask people be careful and aware there is a section closed off due to ice and high water."

Murphy says for the most part residents pay attention to the signs and warnings; he is hopeful they continue as the fluctuation of weather and water levels can be unpredictable.

"It is a hazard. We don't want anyone getting into a situation where they need to be rescued and we don't want to have to put our firefighters into that situation. People need to error on the side of caution, obey the signs and stay away from the parts of the trail that are closed."
