Cochrane's Crime Reduction Unit and Cochrane RCMP were able to recover numerous stolen items and break in tools from a suspicious vehicle found through a patrol.

A 32-year-old male of no fixed address is facing numerous charges in relation to a complaint of a suspicious vehicle being seen at the Cochrane Ranche Historic Park around 10 in the morning yesterday (July 31); although the RCMP was not successful in locating the vehicle at the Historic Park, patrols in the area led them to a location near Glenbow Road.

Upon investigation, RCMP learned the male was not alone but accompanied by a 17 year-old-girl riding as his passenger who was later released.

The 32-year-old male is facing numerous charges stemming from their investigation including:

  • Eight charges of possession of property obtained by crime under $5000
  • Possession of break-in tools
  • Uttering threats against a person
  • Uttering threats against property/animal
  • Assault
  • Seven counts of failing to comply with probation
  • Three Traffic Safety Act charges

Cochrane RCMP, Constable Jennifer Brewer says some of the charges facing the suspect stemmed from their interaction with him. "The uttering threats and the assault charges were in relation to the investigation. There were some safety concerns where the 17-year-old female was involved and therefore those charges were laid."

The suspect remains in custody at this time as he awaits a hearing in front of the Justice of the Peace. It is anticipated an updated release with the suspect's name will follow shortly.
