Last Tuesday the 2023 Federal Budget was announced, and it's safe to say Airdrie - Banff Member of Parliament (MP) Blake Richards wanted to see more.

Richards explained this budget is a way of just piling up more debt.

"The best way of explaining this budget is it's more of the same. It seems like it's been a pattern for eight years now; the Liberal government seems to find a way to spend a lot of money and never get any results for it."

Richards mentioned this government in power has spent more money than every other government in the history of this country combined..

According to the MP, this year's and previous budgets contain empty promises.

"They talk about building affordable housing; I don't know where this affordable housing is. Infrastructure: they talk about billions of dollars in infrastructure projects, and yet, no infrastructure projects ever seem to get built other than maybe a few small things."

When asked about what he would have liked to see in the budget, the first thing that came to his mind was some relief for Canadians.

"People could have a little more money left to pay for some of the necessities that seem to be going up because of inflation, which then goes back to government spending that's been a factor in contributing to making that inflation happen. I would love to see the tax savings."

If the conservatives were in power, Richards said the first thing they would have done is start moving towards a balanced budget.

"Given the massive debt, the government's piled up, of course, that's not going to happen overnight but we would move towards a balanced budget, we'd scrap the carbon tax, and we'd look at other ways we can save tax money for Canadians."

When it came to things Richard liked in the budget, he talked about some announcements that don't have many details as of yet but are good ideas.

"I have been pushing for several years now for a leave for parents who've lost an infant child or had a pregnancy loss."

Richards finished off by saying he hopes to see a federal election shortly.
