In December 2022, the Airdrie RCMP Crime Reduction Unit (CRU) arrested or assisted in apprehending over 20 offenders, primarily related to theft, shoplifting, and stolen vehicles during what police are calling an enhanced property crime enforcement project.

The project was carried out with retail Loss Prevention Officers, in both the City of Airdrie and the County of Rocky View.

"The project resulted in 20 new criminal code charges and the execution of 38 outstanding warrants, for charges including robbery, possession of the stolen property, failure to comply with conditions, failure to attend court, break and enter, theft and drugs," a police release stated.

Thanks to partnerships with Loss Preventions Officers and members of the community, Airdrie CRU was able to recover nearly $35,000 worth of stolen property and return it back to its rightful owners before the holiday season.
