According to Sara Hoffman with  Environment and Climate Change Canada, we did break a temperature record on Tuesday, February 9 with a frosty minus 35.7 degrees celsius. The previous record had been minus 34.9 degrees celsius set in 1985.

Sara adds that record-keeping for the Cochrane area has only been recorded since 1984.

There wasn't a record set for yesterday, Wednesday, February 10, but we may be well on track for doing it for today, Thursday, February 11, and tomorrow Friday, February 12.

While it is not official yet, Thursday's record low is minus 28.7 degrees celsius and today our low was at minus 36.9 degrees celsius this morning. So, chances are we have beat another dubious record.

Friday's record low is minus 33.2 degrees celsius and that record was set in 2019. We will see if we can beat that tomorrow!
