Calling all teen artists! The Boys and Girls Club (BGC) of Cochrane and Area is hosting an Art in the Park event on Wednesday, July 14 at Mitford Ponds.

Bethany Poettcker is Youth Worker with The Club -- the teen space for BGC Cochrane, and she says they're planning a relaxed evening for young artists age 13 to 17.

"We'll have some music and snacks set up," says Poettcker. "Overall it's just going to be a nice and relaxed evening of painting, drawing, music and snacks."

Poettcker says that The Club will provide all the materials and snacks, but teens are welcome to bring their own projects to work on if they'd like to.

"We'll have a bunch of art supplies there, so that will all be covered," says Poettcker. "Youth are welcome to bring their own supplies though if they have a sketchbook or their own art project that they want to work on."

Poettcker says that participants of the Art in the Park event will have the freedom to create artwork of their choosing, and there will also be an opportunity for artists to collaborate on a very special piece of artwork for The Club.

"We actually have a very large canvas at The Club that has kind of been sitting and collecting dust," explains Poettcker. "We're hoping to work on that collaboratively so we can hang up at The Club."

Artists are also encouraged to work on their designs for BGC Cochrane's Pride T-Shirt Contest.

There's no need to register for the Art in the Park event. Teens are welcome to stop by the stage at Mitford Ponds on Wednesday, July 14 from 4 to 6 p.m.
