Don't wear your brand new back-to-school clothes on Saturday because you might get a bit messy at the Bow Valley Highschool Colour Run.

Participants can expect to have a great time while having colour powder tossed at them on the 5 k.m. loop.

Amy Carter said it's a fundraiser in support of local kids.

"It's a fundraiser for the Alberta Children's Hospital, and it's all about bringing our school and the community together to raise money for a good cause."

Cameron Old said members from the leadership program have been preparing for this for nearly a year.

"We've been working on this since October and it's changed a lot. A bunch of things had to happen to get here, but we're really happy with where it's ending."

The first 70 participants to register will receive a white shirt.

Runners can enjoy a BBQ and there will be family-friendly activities including live music, face painting, and glitter tattoos.

The run starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Mitford Pond.
