The return of “Live at St. Andy’s” immediately kicks into high gear with the return of acclaimed Cochrane musician Lucas Chaisson and his band on Oct. 13 at the St. Andrew’s United Church.

With three performers already confirmed for their fall lineup and more to be announced for the New Year, St. Andy’s continues to strive to provide quality live music in a community setting

Besides helping support their ministry, the concerts are also proving to be an opportunity to support other charities and proceeds from this concert will support the Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area, says Rev. Ray Goodship of the St. Andrew’s United Church.

“Some will be to support our own ministry, but what we really would like to do is provide the opportunity to build partnerships with other charities,” says Goodship. “So, with every second or third concert, our hope is to do it for somebody else rather than for ourselves.”

Goodship says he realized the potential of the assisting other organizations through St. Andy’s when a charity event was held in support of the Boys and Girls Club of Cochrane and Area last spring.

“That really opened my eyes to the possibilities of what St. Andy’s can do. It showed the potential of how that kind of partnership can create awareness and community around yourself."

Helping Hands executive director Jackie Shier says they are thrilled with the offer of the St. Andrew’s United Church.

“We’ve never had a benefit concert before so we’re pretty excited,” says Shier. “Helping Hands is growing and we’re getting a little more visibility so it’s nice to have the support to continue our work here in town.”

That growing awareness has also lead to WestJet providing a Flight Voucher for Two that is currently being raffled. Tickets are $10 and there’s only 1,000 available. Tickets will also be available at the concert. Draw date is Oct. 21. There is also a silent auction.
