The Cochrane Generals have already wrapped up first place in the north division of the HJHL, but their final two games of the regular season aren't without meaning.

Tomorrow, the Gens are in Red Deer to face the Vipers, then return home Sunday afternoon for their first game of the season against the Coaldale Copperheads.

The weekend games provide an opportunity for Gens captain Patrick Forde to beat the club record for most goals in a regular season. He hit the 50 mark last weekend and is destined to win top honours for both goals and points in the league.

Currently, Connor Rendell holds the club record with 54 goals in the 2016-17 season.

Head coach Kurtis Jones is expecting the Red Deer Vipers to come out flying on Saturday.

"Red Deer's still fighting for a second, so I think it will be a pretty good game. We always play hard against each other."

Finishing first and second provides a bye from the first round of playoffs

The Gens are resting defencemen Jordan Marks, Ryan Davis, Zac Fulton, and centre Shane Benoit. Goalie Kaiden Wharton gets the start.

The Gens have yet to see the Coaldale Copperheads this season after being moved to the north division. The Cooperheads are destined to finish third in the south division, just behind the Medicine Hat Cubs.

Jones hasn't decided on his Sunday lineup.

"It depends on how Saturday goes. I just can't afford to get players injured or suspended, so we'll see. The Copperheads are almost 60 minutes ahead of us in penalties, so I'm a little worried about that."

The puck drops at 3 p.m. on Sunday at the Cochrane Arena.
