The teen accused in a deadly crash that killed two teenaged girls from the Springbank area in 2021 has been formally charged. 

The accused, who cannot be named because she was 17-years-old at the time of the collision is charged with two counts of Dangerous Driving Causing Death and one count of Dangerous Driving Causing Bodily Harm.

Four teenage girls were in a SUV that swerved off the road and crashed into a fence before landing on a rural property near Springbank in July 2021.

Two teens died in that collision and the other two were severely injured. 

The accused is the sister of one of the teens who died in the crash. 

All of the girls attended Springbank Community high school.

She appeared in Cochrane Provincial Court on Tuesday. 

The case will be back in court again on Feb. 28.
