Cochrane RCMP released a statement yesterday (January 23) following an attempted robbery in Morley after an act of goodwill.

According to the police report, the victim stated he was approached by a male looking for a ride to Morley while he was filling up his vehicle at Cochrane Fas Gas. Agreeing to the ride, the victim drove the suspect out to the reserve.

RCMP say once in Morley, the suspect produced a firearm and demanded the victim's vehicle and other personal effects but thankfully was able to remove keys from the ignition and run. As he ran, the victim states he heard loud bangs of a possible shotgun ring out.

The victim made it to the Centex Gas Bar where he was able to call the RCMP.

RCMP have released a warrant for 27-year-old, Tyrell Twoyoungmen, of Tsuut'ina and Morley First Nation in relation to the attempted robbery.

If you have any information regarding the crime or Twoyoungmen's whereabouts you are asked to call the Cochrane detachment (403-851-8000) or Crimestoppers (1-800-222-8477) but do not approach the suspect as he should be considered armed and dangerous.
