Mounties in Cochrane are looking for a suspicious man after two 12-year-old boys were approached by a man in a van on Friday evening.

The boys were walking along Range Road 33 in Springbank, south of Cochrane around 8:00 pm on Friday.

A man driving a van pulled up to them, offered them candy and a ride.

The pair did not get into the vehicle.

The man is described as "non-caucasian", in his 50's and spoke with a Jamaican accent.

Officers are commending the boys for getting a brief description of the man and reporting the incident to them.

The RCMP are hoping to locate the driver and speak to him.

Cochrane RCMP are thanking the boys for reporting the incident and for any callers who will report future incidents of suspicious activity as this allows Mounties to investigate complaints with an intelligence lead approach and to eliminate any matters that have an innocent explanation.
