There's been an incredible response to the Smile Cookie fundraiser that's taking place at all four Cochrane locations of Tim Hortons this week.

Between them, about 2,000 cookies are being purchased daily, says owner Nancy Etcheverry.

She says the Smile Cookie campaign has been held annually in September for years, but it's the first time they've been able to give all the funds raised to a local cause. All the proceeds go to the Cochrane Activettes Food Bank.

"We're very excited about it. The town's been incredibly supportive. Our goal is to raise $15,000 over the week and I think we're going to meet it or exceed it, and that's up about 30 per cent from last year."

Individuals have been purchasing the cookies, but some businesses have also been making large purchases, likely for their staff and customers, in support of the campaign.

The cookies weren't the only ones with grins on their faces. Members of the Cochrane Activettes were clearly having fun dressing up the cookies at the Westside Drive location.

Activette Kathy Tucker says this is their first crack at dressing up Tim's cookies.

"We haven't been counting," she says. "We've been just trying to make them look like they're smiling. I know Nancy has large quantities ordered, so we're just trying to get as many done as we can."

"It's very exciting for us, and we're very happy to help," she says.

Smile Cookies will be available at all four Tim Hortons locations in Cochrane until Sunday.

Since its inception, the Tim Hortons Smile Cookie campaign has raised over $75 million nationwide.
