Cochrane is set to play host to a two-day country music festival this summer.

Music lovers will have the chance to sing and dance along to some of their favourite country music artists while enjoying excellent food and entertainment.

"We're going to have camping available, there will be vendors there and food trucks as well. We're still figuring out the staging, but we're planning to have the stage and the main outdoor arena and also have a smaller stage inside the barn down there. Passes will be for the full weekend, we'll have music performances on Friday night as well as all day Saturday," said festival organizer, Kailey Mitchell with Quirk Social.

The festival will be at the Cochrane & District AG Society grounds on July 19th and 20th, 2024.

As far as who will be playing at the event, Mitchell said "There will be some names that you're familiar with as well as some local names."

The full list of performers will be announced in early 2024.

Right now, organizers are looking for the perfect name for the event and have launched a contest with the winner set to walk away with a VIP package.

"We're thrilled to introduce a country music festival to Cochrane," said Mitchell. "Our goal is to create an event that not only features outstanding music but also embodies the warmth and spirit of our community. It's about bringing people together and making memories that will last a lifetime.” Mitchell adds “A festival like this deserves a standout name, Cochrane. Can you help us name it?”

"We thought we'd reach out to the community and see if someone can come up with a name that kind of embodies Cochrane as a whole but also the country music and the country part of it and also it being kind of a cowboy town. We've launched a contest for people to enter to win, and come up with a name."

You have until Dec. 15 to submit a name for the contest, with the winner set to be announced on Jan. 15, 2024.
