The Cochrane Cowboys Wrestling Club hit the road again.

The Grande Prairie Wrestling Club hosted a tournament this weekend where some members of the Cowboys attended.  It was another successful weekend for this small Cochrane Club, with all of the local athletes medaling.

The only elementary wrestler, Clara Washburn, was able to pin her way to a gold in her very first tournament on Friday. She beat her opponent three times, placing her at the top.

Saturday was another strong showing for the Cowboys in the Junior Division, with Clara's brother, Alex Washburn taking bronze in his match. Keath Dostler finished up his matches with silver being awarded to him.

The Senior High boys, Connor Pointen and Hunter Smit rounded up the tournament nicely with their gold medal wins.

Frank Dostler, Senior High Coach, Cowboy Wrestling Club, was extremly impressed with the contingent of wrestlers that travelled to Grande Prairie with him.  Dostler says Pointen and Smith are great leaders and representatives of the club. These elite Wrestlers, having very few points scored against them.

"They are so humble, respectful, and they do what they have to do, and their biggest concern is how to improve for the next match."

Tournaments will continue after the holidays, getting ready for the Alberta Open to be held in Cochrane in March.
