The fight against the Devil's Head wildfire continues.

According to the Municipal District of Bighorn, the fire did show some growth within the containment line as some previously unburnt areas were allowed to burn while under observation.

Crews from Agriculture and Forestry are dousing hot spots with pumps, hoses and hand tools.

These efforts are also being supported by helicopter bucketing.

Heavy equipment has been used to clear helipads so helicopters can now have access to more remote areas.

Fire crews are hopeful the cooler weather and the chance of some rain will help.

The wildfire is still listed as out of control at an estimated size of 3624 hectares.

Not all areas within that perimeter are burning due to the rocky terrain.

Area residents are still being asked to be prepared to evacuate if necessary.

The MD is reporting that they are using 12 helicopters, one airtanker and 20 pieces of heavy equipment

This is in addition to the help from 122 firefighters.
