A last reminder for community members to have their donations on their doorstep before 10 am on Saturday (April 29)

Jackie Shier, Executive Director, Helping Hands Society of Cochrane and Area says they are hoping to match donations from their last drive.

"Last fall we had our most successful food drive ever; we gathered over 1100 cases of food and we're hoping to match that this time around."

Roughly 550 volunteers lend a helping hand that day, but if your residence gets accidentally missed, no worries, your donation will still be gratefully accepted.

"You are welcome to drop off your donation at Safeway, No Frills, or Save On Foods, there are large bins there for the food bank or you can call the number that is on the food bag and someone will come and pick up your donation."

The food bank is in need of school safe snacks as well as protein based meals such as canned meats, chili, stew, and beans.

Shier adds so far in 2017 the food bank has already helped over 350 families.
