Halloween is a fun time of year but Cochrane Fire Services is reminding us that it can also be scary if we don't keep safety in mind.

Fire Inspector Jeff Avery says it's so important with cooler temperatures at night to dress for the weather.

"We definitely want kids to stay in a group, don't go out by yourself and don't cut down alleys and stuff like that to get to the next house quicker."

"Just travel in packs and have fun and if you can, go out with a parent if you're younger."

Avery says drivers need to assume that kids could be running onto the streets without looking first, so they need to slow down and watch out.
