If you are headed to the mountains this weekend, keep in mind you can't have an open fire in Banff National Park.

Due to elevated fire danger, a fire ban has been issued for the entire national park including all campgrounds and day use areas.

The ban encompasses all open fires including campfires, charcoal, briquette, or wood barbeques.

Campers are allowed to use gas or propane stoves and barbeques, portable propane fire pits, and propane patio heaters.

Visitors who fail to heed the fire ban could face a maximum fine of $25,000 under the Canada National arks Act.
