Cochrane's Pride Week celebrations continue to grow.

A Pride Parade through historic downtown Cochrane has been announced and will take place on August 24, 2022.

This event has been put into motion by two community members, Samantha Nickerson and Marni Fedeyko.

"We are hoping to get some enthusiastic individuals out there that will show off their colour, their vibrancy, their individuality and that's what really this parade is all about," explains Fedeyko. "It's not to focus on sexuality per se, but really celebrating everybody's individual uniqueness."

Fedeyko believes an event like this really showcases how Pride Week in Cochrane has continued to flourish year after year.

"I remember celebrating the very first Pride event and it was a cake ceremony in the downtown square and I think this is just the next step in adding to the events."

"The more individuals that come out and show off their support, whether or not they're part of the LGBTQ2S+ community, it is just really about everybody coming together."

The parade is looking to begin at 1 p.m. and run from 5th Avenue along Historic Main Street and finish at the old Ford site on Railway Street.
