Grassroots movement, Alberta Can't Wait, is hosting an informative meeting to hopefully nudge, promote, and encourage a unification of two political parties.

Alberta Can't Wait (ACW) was formed after the last election in May 2015, promoting the merging of the Conservative and Wildrose Parties.

Owen Neal, Co Captain for the Chapter of Alberta Can't Wait, Banff- Cochrane Constituency, feels the majority win for the NDP was due to vote splitting between the two Conservative parties. Alberta Can't Wait is a vehicle to encourage the two parties to join forces.

Neal says there is chatter from voters that they would like to see the two parties unite.

"Everybody I've talked to and have dealt with say that the voting public who are Conservative supporters want this action to take place, they want the two parties to merge. They want this option available to them at the next election."

While activists and leaders of the respected Conservative and Wildrose parties are not in favour of uniting, Neal says the majority of Albertans think differently.

"Our position is that doesn't represent the will of what the majority of what Conservative Albertans want."

If we were currently headed to the polls, Neal feels the vote would remain unchanged.

"I don't see where either of the two existing Conservative parties would muster enough support to form a government. We would very probably end up with an NDP minority government or even conceivable of a majority NDP government again."

The evening will consist of an overview of the last election, where we are today, history of the association Alberta Can't Wait, as well as speaker Jason Kenney who supports a single Conservative ideological party to oppose the NDP party at the next election.

This it the first chapter of Alberta Can't Wait and the association is hoping chapters are formed in every constituency across Alberta.

The evening meeting will be held June 29, 7-9:30 pm, at the Cochrane Legion.
