The Cochrane and area Humane Society is hosting an event next week with an aim to help dogs who are reactive while on leash.

Acting Executive Director, Janine Rossler says the seminar will teach you what you can do to prevent your dog from being reactive while on leash.

Rossler says "those tools and strategies in place to know how to manage if that scary big truck is coming around the corner what you can already do with your dog to make them feel safe and not to put them in a position where they feel they need to react."

"Or the baby stroller coming around the corner, the last thing you want to do is have the dog barking or lunging or leaping towards the stroller."

The Canine Reactivity seminar goes on Tuesday, November 19th from 6:30 to 9PM at the Rehabilitation & Education Centre which is directly behind the main shelter building.

Tracy Keith who is Co-founder and Executive Director of the Humane Society will present at the seminar. She specializes in advanced dog behaviour modification and training.

You need to register with the humane society ahead of time.

The seminar is $45.
