For the fifth time, yummy homemade soup and fresh bread will be served by the warm-hearted people of the Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee on Christmas Day.

Committee members are thrilled to once again offer Mingle and Jingle Over Soup in-person after being modified to be a drive-thru event for the last two years.

They'll also be door prizes, small gifts for children, crafts and colouring, and a visit by a special guest.

It will be held at the Cochrane Alliance Church, 902 Glenbow Dr. from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Christmas Day.

The event was created with the belief that no one needs to be alone on Christmas Day. It's especially ideal for individuals and families new to the Cochrane community.

"Anyone that feels that they don't have anyone to be with on Christmas Day are more than welcome to come to enjoy a bowl of soup with us," says Jessica Ingard who has been involved since it was launched. "Everyone is welcome."

In the past, about 50 to 60 people have participated and with so many new residents there may be more this time around.

Soup continues to be prepared by Gourmet on the Go and COBS is providing the bread.

While advance registration isn't required, it would help the committee prepare appropriately. You can reach out to them by emailing cisccochrane@gmail.com or connecting through their Facebook page Newcomers Cochrane here. They are also in the midst of creating a registration form on Eventbrite.
