Yesterday's dramatic arrest of three Calgary men by the Cochrane RCMP has resulted in the recovery of several types of illegal drugs and a loaded handgun.

Early yesterday afternoon, Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of suspicious people in a parking lot off of Hwy. 1A. It was called in by an off-duty police officer.

In an attempt to flee, the vehicle crashed into an RCMP cruiser. The vehicle was immobilized and quickly surrounded by six RCMP members responding to the call.

No injuries were sustained in the crash.

A 9mm handgun and quantities of what is believed to be cocaine, fentanyl, and oxycodone were recovered.

Deng Keuch, 23, has been charged with 20 offenses, including weapons possession, possession of stolen property, possession of drugs, and eight breaches of release conditions.

Mark Ture, 21, was charged with 11 offenses, including possession of drugs, weapons possession, five breaches of release conditions, driving offenses, and assault with a weapon on a police officer.

Gach Manyel, 22, faces nine offenses, including possession of drugs, weapons possession, and four breaches of release conditions.

Keuch and Ture are in custody and will appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on Mar. 23. Manyel was released on $1,000 cash bail and will appear in a Calgary court on Mar. 30.

“These three individuals presented a very real danger to the community,” says RCMP Cpl. Troy Savnkoff of the Cochrane detachment. "We are thankful that we were able to disrupt whatever plans they may have had.”

Exactly what brought them to the community will be part of the RCMP's ongoing investigation.
