A man from the Stoney Nakoda First Nation has been charged in relation to the death of 23-year old Keesha Crawler. 

Thirty-seven-year-old Bryan Kelrick House Jr. is charged with criminal negligence causing death.

On Apr. 18, at approximately 6:45 a.m. Stoney Nakoda RCMP were called to assist EMS with an unresponsive female on Highway 1A on the Stoney Nakoda First Nation. 

A female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit led the investigation with the assistance of Stoney Nakoda and Cochrane RCMP. The RCMP Forensic Identification Services Unit was also called in to investigate. 

Police believe the victim departed from a moving vehicle and then was placed back into the vehicle.

The victim and accused were known to each other.

House was released on bail following a Judicial Hearing and will appear in Cochrane Provincial Court on May 25, 2021.

No further details are expected to be released.
