Four months after the the province province announced it will no longer send letters in the mail to advise drivers about a registration renewal, Alberta drivers are getting one last reminder.

The province is moving to an electronic reminder system for vehicle registration, and is using robocalls to advise vehicle owners to sign up for online reminders.

The online system is expected to save taxpayers up to $3 million per year.

Drivers are now required to sign up online to receive an electronic reminder, however, many have not, resulting in fines.

People with disabilities will still get their reminders through the mail, and people over the age of 70 will continue to receive mailed reminders until April 1st, 2017.
