Calling all kids! Get ready to be pulled over for good deeds and positive actions.

The positive ticket campaign is back on for the summer. Officers will be making their rounds in their cruisers, on bikes or even on foot patrol rewarding local kids for their good behaviour.

RCMP Constable Nathan Moore says the RCMP, Peace Officers and Cochrane & Area Victim Services will be handing out these tickets. “We'll be riding around or driving around throughout the summer looking for kids, doing good things, being good role models, wearing the helmets, wearing seatbelts, crossing your crosswalks, those kinds of things.”

“We give them a ticket, which comes with a treat and then you can enter in for a prize.”

Accompanying the positive tickets are giveaways sponsored by Marilyn Clark with Century 21, Cochrane McDonald’s, Booster Juice, Big Hill Cycle, 7-Eleven, Dairy Queen and Dave Moore Transport & Recovery.

Anyone who receives a ticket could also win even bigger prizes by posting a selfie with the ticket and posting it to social media.

The big prize is the Nintendo Switch system package. Other prizes up for grabs include Chromebooks and more.

Moore says this is the fourth year for positive tickets in Cochrane and the program continues to be a big hit. “Every year is at least 1,000 tickets and we have about 1,200 more this year or so"

“The draw date for these prizes is going to be August 28th and it's a whole bunch of different things and cool swag.”

The Cochrane RCMP kicked off the campaign yesterday afternoon at the Zero Gravity Skatepark handing out tickets to youth.
