Registration is now open for The Amazing Cochrane Culture Quest that's happening on September 12.

For the second year in a row, the Cochrane Immigrant Services Committee (CISC) is hosting an interactive 'Amazing Race' style event to showcase Cochrane's diverse and vibrant multicultural communities.

CISC Vice President, Candy Weisner says that the event will start at the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre and from there participants will head out on their quest.

"Participants will come to the check-in table and I will give them their passport and bag with lots of swag and information in it and an envelope with their first clue," explains Weisner. "Everyone starts at different spots so when they open their envelope that will give them a clue as to where their first culture stop will be."

At each location, the participants are introduced to a different cultural group, all of which are represented by our local Cochrane residents.

"There's no loss because everybody is going to have a lot of fun learning about different cultures in town and realizing how diverse we really are," says Weisner.

She adds that there will also be some great door prizes up for grabs.

The Amazing Cochrane Culture Quest is a free event, but there is a limited number of spots available.

"We want everyone to be able to participate fully so only three vehicles can be at a spot at a time," explains Weisner. "So we can only have 30 vehicles taking part."

While there is a cap on the number of vehicles that can participate, Weisner says that each vehicle can be at its safe, maximum capacity.

Weisner says that last year's event filled up quickly and she recommends signing up soon. You can sign up here.
