Everyone loves to share the joy of Christmas giving, including those ages 5 to 12.

Registration has opened for the annual Kids Christmas Shopping event at Home Treasures. It's being held on Sunday, Dec. 3, and a 30-minute time slot is assigned to each participant.

Space is limited, so parents are being encouraged to reserve a spot soon by emailing hometreasures@telus.net. They'll send back a registration form for you to complete. Kids aren't considered registered until a time slot is confirmed by Home Treasures.

Cochrane Home Treasures manager Cayley Breeze explains for just $5 they can select gifts for five people on their list. There'll be plenty of helpful volunteers on hand to guide them through the store.

"It's super popular. It's very treasured," she says. "We get so many comments from kids and parents alike that they just love the event because it gives kids a chance to experience that Christmas spirit without breaking the bank. They absolutely love it."

Cochrane's nonprofit second-hand store has an incredible selection, plus they set things aside through the course of the year with this day in mind.

"Sometimes we'll get new gifts in that haven't been opened. We save those things for this specific event, so they can get some great fun things for Christmas."

In turn, that $5 from each child is paid forward to another worthy local charity by Home Treasures.
