Rocky View Schools reminds parents and guardians of Cochrane children who attend grades K-8 of another important meeting regarding student accommodation coming up on Tuesday, February 25.

Public Meeting Two, will be held at Mitford School,110 Quigley Drive at 7pm. This meeting follows on the heels of Public Meeting One which was held at Rancheview School on January 16.

Student growth in the Town of Cochrane is a constantly fluctuating factor which sees enrolment increase by approximately 250 students annually. The result, Cochrane schools will be over 100 per cent utilized within the next 5  years. The ideal scenario would be to build new schools, but that takes a long time to happen. In the interim, meetings will be held to come up with solutions to balance student enrolments in Cochrane schools.  Often the situation requires changing attendance boundaries which is a worrisome factor for parents.

During Meeting One on January 16, RVS shared information on enrolments and school capacity trends, possible accommodation changes, and other items relating to K-8 students in Cochrane.

Public Meeting Two will followup with RVS providing a high-level review of the Jan. 16, meeting, share detailed options under consideration and gather feedback on the options presented and other ideas.

Cochrane families also are reminded they have the option to provide written submissions to the Board. For more information click here
