The snow keeps falling here in Cochrane and with that comes the need to shovel your driveway and walkways.

Adam Loria with Alberta Health Services says there's a few things you should do before shoveling your driveway.

Loria says "Light stretching, prior. Staying hydrated with water specifically. In regards to footwear. You want to have good traction especially if you're going to be moving heavy snow. So some footwear with good ankle support."

He says "It may sound funny but we promote walking like a penguin. Penguins live on ice, they don't fall very often"

He says it just means taking very slow, shuffle like steps. Keeping your arms free and out of your pockets so you can brace yourself if you do slip and fall.
