The Spray Lake Sawmills Centre is hosting its inaugural summer kickoff event on Tuesday evening (June 27) starting at 6:30 p.m.

"We're hoping that it's going to become a staple event in Cochrane and a staple for SLS Centre," says Kevin Octavio, Recreation Programs Supervisor for SLS Centre.

The free event is set to feature several activities including face painting, bouncers, game stations, and fitness activities like outdoor volleyball. A beer garden will also be set up for adults 18 and up.

"The idea is for us to invite several local organizations, sport and program partners to connect with the community. It's also a great opportunity for our summer camp team to meet all the parents and kids that are registered in our summer camp programs."

There will also be live demonstrations of Zumba and Snap Dance with the audience encouraged to join in.

"We even have a dunk tank," says Octavio. "You can dunk camp leaders and even the CEO of the center will be in the hot seat."

The evening will wrap up with a special outdoor movie starting at 9:45 p.m. The movie was voted on by Cochranites and will be the 1993 baseball classic, The Sandlot

91.5 FM CochraneNow will be broadcasting live on location all night to kick off summer here in Cochrane.
